About
I am currently based in South Scotland and looking to work in art departments in both theatre and film industries. I graduated with a BA Hons in Theatre: Writing, Directing and Performance at the University of York, where I specialized in Production Design and the theory of Agatha Christie’s Adaptations. Designing for a production is a lot like a Christie novel; you need to dissect the text, explore the hidden meanings underneath and look at the obscure metaphors to include in the designs.

I am new to the creative industry and am currently looking for backstage production and junior art department roles. I am keen to learn new skills and always looking to improve my work.

Education and Training

Prior to my degree I had training from Stagecoach Performing Arts (Edinburgh) and the Scottish Youth Theatre. In 2018, I received a qualification from the BADC at Beginners Level for sword and dagger, rapier and unarmed combat. In 2020 I was accepted into the National Youth Theatre intake course to specialize in Set Design and Construction.

Creative Practice
As a theatre designer, I am interested in looking at ways to include the audience in the production. I want to explore the space between bodies and action, and find ways to include the props and designs, even when they are stationary. I find film and television design to be similar in that the designs must always link to the cinematic action and enjoy the different challenges that a camera implements.
